PHOENIX is an Israeli-Brazilian early music ensemble, directed by violist Dr. Myrna Herzog, which deals with music from the medieval (See Ludus Danielis below) to the 19th century in a deep historically informed attitude, with some modern “specimens” as well. This prominent ensemble creates top concert programs in the field of early music, enlighting familiar music in refreshing lights & reviving music that is rarely performed, if at all, nowadays. One very interesting aspect of PHOENIX is its tendency to deal with music from cultures in middle & south America of the baroque era. Amongst PHOENIX many seasonal programs, some programs are performed on a regular basis for many years. 2 of such programs that I participated in, which combines songs with great sopranos & a variety of very interesting musical instruments, I want to mention in particular:
1) Esa Noche Jo Baila – a program of 5 performers including the soprano Michal Okon, that intertwines music from the streets & the palaces of central america.
2) Convivencia – a program of 7 performers, including the soprano Macarena Lopez & the narrator Benny Hendel, which deals with the 3 monotheistic religions cultures & the relations between them in the Golden Age of the Iberian peninsula.

פניקס הוא אנסמבל מוסיקה עתיקה ישראלי, שהעתיק את פעילותו לברזיל. האנסמבל, בניהולה של המייסדת שלו, הגמביסטית ד”ר מירנה הרצוג, עוסק במוסיקה מימי הביניים (ראו למשל את הוידאו לעיל המכיל את “מחזה דניאל” במלואו) ועד המאה ה -19 בגישה עמוקה מבחינת מודעות היסטורית, עם “תיבולים” מודרניים. הרכב בולט זה יוצר תכניות קונצרטים מובילות בתחום המוזיקה המוקדמת, כשהוא שופך אור מרענן על מוסיקה מוכרת מחד ומאידך עוסק בהחייאת מוסיקה שמבוצעת לעתים נדירות, אם בכלל, בימינו. היבט נוסף מעניין של פניקס הוא נטייתו לבצע מוסיקה מתרבויות באמריקה התיכונה והדרומית של תקופת הבארוק
בין התוכניות העונתיות של פניקס, חלק מהתוכניות מבוצע באופן קבוע במשך שנים רבות. שתי תוכניות כאלה, בהן השתתפתי, המשלבות שירים עם זמרות סופרן נהדרות ומגוון רחב של כלי נגינה מאוד מעניינים, אני רוצה להזכיר באופן מיוחד
הלילה נרקוד – תוכנית עם חמישה מבצעים, בהם הזמרת מיכל אוקון, המתווכת בין מוזיקה מהרחובות ומהארמונות של מרכז אמריקה
קונויונציה – תכנית של שבעה מבצעים, ביניהם הסופרן מקרנה לופז והקריין בני הנדל, העוסקת בתרבויות של שלוש הדתות בתור הזהב של חצי האי האיברי והיחסים ביניהן
